Annie Rasiel is a New York born and based educator with experience teaching theater, English/Language Arts, creative writing, and social studies. She is happiest in the chaos of making meaning with children, whether in long discussions about life and literature or working together to put on a play.

From 2014 to 2017, Annie ran the Oberlin Children’s Shakespeare Project, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit youth theater. As executive director of OCSP, she abridged and directed nine Shakespeare plays and led three summer camps, all with 11 - 15 year old actors.

In 2017, she returned to New York to earn an MA in teaching English at Columbia Teacher’s College. She spent the next six years teaching middle school. Burnt out and longing for artistic collaboration, she took a hiatus from teaching in 2022 to produce and co-write an independent feature film.

Annie lives in Brooklyn with her dog, her cats, and her husband, a filmmaker with whom she enjoys collaborating. She is a bad driver, a decent tap dancer, and a very good friend.
